Every time my eldest daughter found a job she wanted, the same message would land: “Dad, can you check my CV before I send it?”
Of course I said yes. I always say yes. But I run a business, and more often than I'd like to admit, the updated version reached her late — the night before the deadline, or after it had already gone.
And it was never really one CV. Every role wanted something different, so every application needed its own rewrite. Same experience, same person, told for a different reader each time. Checking a CV once is a favour. Rewriting it for every job is a second job — and she was waiting on me to do it.
So, me being me, I built her a tool.
She pastes in her CV and the job advert, and gets back a version written for that role, a covering email, and the questions worth asking at interview. No waiting on Dad.
The part I cared about most was the part you can't see. I wasn't going to hand my daughter something that dressed her up as someone she isn't. A CV that claims a qualification you don't have reads brilliantly — right up until the interview. So every line it writes has to trace back to something she'd actually done, and a second check reads the whole thing back against her original to make sure it does.
She loved it. So I've opened it up to everyone.
